Never Not Funny at The Standard

Answering the call for an alternative to the mainstream comedy club scene, Sydney arts producers Campfire Collective have teamed up with the all-purpose performance arts space The Standard to flex its funny bone and launch a comedy program of laughs like nowhere else in Sydney.

America’s Funnyman Neil Hamburger, the hardest working comedian in existence, has toured as hand picked opener for Tenacious D, Frenzal Rhomb, Mr Bungle, Tim & Eric, and Faith No More.

Performing up to 399 shows a year internationally to critical acclaim and audience bewilderment, he arrives fresh from sold out seasons at Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, London’s Soho Theatre, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Perth International Comedy Festival.

Hamburger has featured on Marc Maron’s WTF, and his TV credits include Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Tom Green Live, and Jimmy Kimmel Live. His most recent album, Live At Third Man, was produced by The White Stripes’ Jack White in Nashville; an early Hamburger effort was included in SPIN’s “40 Greatest Comedy Albums Of All Time.”

If you hate comedy, you’ll love Neil Hamburger. If you love comedy, you’ll love Neil Hamburger. Joined by his partner in crime Australia’s premier international parlor magician, Dr El Suavo, with special guests Jay Katz and Shanghai.

“Neil Hamburger remains the greatest comedian I’ve seen the greater majority of an audience walk out on….No one was leaving their seats this evening though, as this peerless performer shocked and delighted in equal measure…On the road for 12 years with scarcely a day off, Hamburger is a condemned showbiz lag, doomed to perform his antagonistic anti-comedy to potential hostility forever.” – The Scotsman
